In response to the comment that most people prefer to position the cleats maybe 200, 250mm forward of the deck edge: "Know exactly what you mean and quite agree, the problem I had was getting a good fixing point as the deck is not GRP. Where I have currently fixed them I have been able to screw direct into a wooden rib under the deck. What I plan to do next winter is epoxy a timber strip about 10/15mm thick to mount the cleats in the position you suggest."
