Should there still be an OK stand at Ally Pally?
Not half!!
I think there are several reasons for this:
In no particular order,
- it keeps the OK in the dinghy sailing ‘public eye’;
allied to this, it allows any prospective users to see what a good option the OK is when compared with the ‘opposition’;
also allied, so long as the ‘opposition’ is there, so should the OKs be;
as Dave has said, it is a very good opportunity for existing OK sailors to meet up and have a pre-season gas about all things OK;
finally, I don’t know whether this has been considered and dsimissed; but wouldn’t it be an idea to take advantage of the occasion to hold a committee meeting – either in Ally Pally or in a local pub/hotel?
I’m sure you’ll think of other reasons both for and against, but I think it is money very well spent.
Oh – and in case you were wondering; Salve Nauta is latin and can be translated as ‘Hello Sailor’…
