I am about 11.5 stone and manage to sail reasonably competitively. I have a very bendy rig which is OK on flat water- it is easy to hold up on the beat but a bit wobbly on the run in a breeze and lacking in speed on choppy water.
The rigs are quite controllable but you may have to accept that the 13 stoners will have an edge in a breeze, but if you get really fit you can reel them in.
