Welcome to the OK forum! I think the nearest fleet of OKs to you is at South Staffs SC. (Dunno if there are many boats at Burton, anyone?) OKs are good handicap racers, though, and as good inland as at sea, so you can sail anywhere. I’m sure the sort of money you mention will buy you a good boat. Is it a suitable boat for a novice? Well, it’s certainly a fairly demanding boat to sail, but not impossible. I think you’ll have a much clearer idea after you do your training course, so once you’ve got that under your belt you’ll be in a much better position to decide.
