I appreciate the web master has a tough job, but agree with Richard about first impressions. The web site will be the first point of call for many potential OK sailors, so time to move on if the service provider is not doing the business….
The forum is another key area and the number of posts, or lack of, also creates an impression. The OK is a fantastic boat and there are clearly a lot of people who love sailing them, so come on guys, let the world know about it :!: Let’s see some more threads about OK sailing technique, what hulls / kit to buy, where to race, who is going to which events and general banter, scandal etc. If a newbie (like me ) is asking questions, please make a point of answering them – doesn’t matter if you are not the National Champ, if you are badly wrong someone will correct you, but it’s also a chance for everyone to learn. Why not raise some controversial ideas about developing the boat? There may be little chance of such suggestions ever getting voted in, but it doesn’t hurt to discuss them, shows the class is healthy and maybe, just maybe, could result in some positive development. If you are reading this post, YOU could be helping market the boat – the association shouldn’t have to do everything
Sorry for the rant, especially from someone who hasn’t even got his OK on the water yet!
