It is a pretty tough handicap but I do alright against a mixed fleet of Laser, Blazes RS400s etc but it has taken me 3 years or so to get the hang of it. It seems not too harsh compared to the Laser in light winds and when it’s windy when most Lasers can’t beat very well, but once it gets to marginal planning the Laser pops up quickly while the OK is still struggling. You need to get enough of a gap at the first mark to escape them offwind! On the plus side it must help your downwind speed trying to fight them off!
We’ll not mention Solo’s that appear to have got slower in recent years according to their PY
