What we need to do is promote the enthusiasm that all of you show in your comments. People will sail in our fleet at all levels if it is enjoyable, entertaining and welcoming.
The boat is not hard for juniors and most of the Summertime in inland clubs, weight is not the big issue. If they can sail a Topper- the OK is straightforward enough- I lend my boat to our juniors just to have a sail on good days.
The Upper Thames lads at the 50th were very competitve (except when some of our larger members demanded “water” on the steps up to the bar in the relay race).
When Chris and co did the Juniors at Burton (I’ve got the film!) we all went out to find a club junior to sponsor and put in a boat – a lot of them were from other fleets.
Keep it fun and be good ambassadors for the boat.
