Tricky question this one.
The needlespar masts were typically built to order – The red top masts were generally the stiffest as they had a larger diameter mid section.
The blue & black top masts have very similiar characteristics – Generally the lower the first joint height the softer the mast – although this rule does not always hold true as some of the masts had different sleeves internally.
Some of the masts were built with no lower sleeve -this helps them bend low down, these mast can be detected as they are lighter than the standard sleeved versions.
This probably doesn’t help you too uich, but at least may give you some pointers.
