Hi,
There are lots of types and grades of Tufnol and similar materials for different jobs. Most of the thin types are for electrical purposes and their properties are developed for insulation and other control gear applications. I have used thicker cloth filled Tufnol for mast bearings but it is heavy and not as good as polythene or polyprop.
The biggest issue I would have with using it in boats (apart from the fact that the rules don’t allow it on foils) is that not many grades are really water resistant.
