Are Rooster sails made in Chine? But if you can live with that, I guess for club and the odd open meeting use they’d be fine. I was going to go for a Batt as he is local and offers two types of materal to suit either a tin or carbon stick. However, I secured a virtually unused sail on ebay for £34. No, don’t laugh! Anything would be better than the 26 year old Dolphin I’ve been sporting on 1211 for urm –26 years.
The ebay special is a bit of a puzzle actually. It’s a Seahorse cut as they always were, complete with purple luff and foot rope and nice shiney wooden battens. Sewn on nylon sail numbers and emblem and a serial number stamped in ink down near the foot. Came with Seahorse blue sail bag with label reading “Everitt. OK Main K678” All as new.
I thought that Seahorse had not made sails for some years and, indeed, the seller told me it came with an Ent he bought about 13 years ago.
But this sail is made from polykote dacron,like modern North, P&B ,etc. I think that is what the materal is called.Certainly seems the same stuff as my P&B jobby.
Any thoughts?
