A long time ago I made an alloy L shaped bit with a hole in it for the rivets as a spacer. It is L shaped so you can get it in and out of the track. It worked very well and all I did to the rivet gun was file the sides of the end down a bit so that also went into the track. it made it very easy to re-rivet the track on. The more rivets you use the stiffer the mast will be. If you need to add a few so the bits of track don’t swing around just do it as it makes it easier to hoist the sail if they are all attached properly. Use 1/8 monel rivets.
