Worse and worse – nowhere to hide. I think the River Trent at Nottingham counts as Inland in anyone’s book.
There used to be OKs at Nottingham SC but they were squeezed by the L-word. I was discussing why this had happened because the Laser is theoretically not suited to the water here at all – very rarely get a reach and winds tend to the light. Elderly member chips in ‘no, the OK couldn’t compete with the Lasers. I had one for a few years after they arrived but I was always at the back. We got visited once by a top OK sailor ……..’
Pause
‘ ……. Whipped the lot of us’
I can’t help feeling that the message is not that the OK can’t compete!
BTW, old boats weekend with the help of the CVRDA on 21/22 May, if anyone wants to come along. I’ll definitely be there, and there will be a fleet of the older classes, because we have a good few in the Club
