The theory that the higher mounted block will make the traveller come into the centre is right. It also depends on how much curve you have in the track. The issue arises when you have a bit of a chop on the water and light wind and you want to pull the boom down a bit but have the traveller out. I had a boat with the block on the end of the c/b case and this was definitely too high.
It appears that you have a reasonably curved track (especially up and down curve) so I would have thought that raising the block a bit like on the Alex boats shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Alex may even sell you the base he makes if you ask him nicely.
