Yup, Alistair is completely correct. The boat with Peter Beck clinging to it (1435, ‘Cockeyed Optimist’) had a floorboard which was a single piece of 6mm ply screwed down to the stiffeners and the hog. May have been padded over the hog, ‘cos it was a smooth curve athwartships. Amazing that Andy Turner has

, he sailed against that boat often enough! Maybe he was just too far behind to spot the floorboard . Anyway, Peter Beck’s still around, so if you want any more details, we can ask him.
