    It worried the hell out of me as I sail at a club which has a relatively narrow launching area which is usually the lee shore. Having sailed all manner of boats including 49ers there, I know there is always a way but the fixed rudder did concern me.

    Burt is right though, with the board 1/4 down you can jump into the boat, grab the falls of the main and using heel and mainsheet you can get a good 10-20ft away from the shallows and then put the rudder on. I dont even bother with the top pintle trick, just leave the rudder in the boat.

    For me getting back in is always the worry, but with the board up leeward heel and the main out, you can slide in nicely.

    I just need my boat back now to put all my advice into practice. :roll:
