I’ve heard from Darek that the Worlds in Poland (July 24th – Aug 1st 2015) will be an open event so we don’t need a qualification series. Having said that we need as much practise on the sea as possible before the event. The obvious events to attend are the inlands at Grafham, the training weekend at Dabchicks (April 25th/26th); Hunstanton (May 16th); Brightlingsea OM and Dabchicks OM. There will be a second training weekend in early July.

The entry fee is payable by the GBR Class Association so please get your entry fee (yet to be worked out in pounds) to Paul Pike by May 31st at the latest.Andy
Ken and David Carroll Done/Entered we are both looking forward to it. I expect things have changed in Puck since we both last went in the early 90’s.

Hang on, Greg! That could have been a stroke of financial genius on Ken’s part: if he’d pocketed a million zlotys then and they’re worth, what, 5 to a pound now? He’d be sitting on £200,000 at this moment :mrgreen: . The fact that his million zlotys cost him a tenner in the first place would be neither here nor there, would it?

You are dead right there, totally ripped off. :oops: I am still convinced I got the right money in my hand, only when he RAN OFF did I realise I had the equivalent of 50 pence in cash. Gave us all good Laugh though. The whole week was full of Laughs really, especially when somebody came back from the Beer shop with a crate of beer which turned out to be molasses. A bottle of Vodka was cheaper than the can of Fanta to put in it. And we had our sailing gear pinched which was brought back by the Police. We lived off Zappia kanka (cheese and mushrooms on toast) and Lodi(ice cream) for a few days until we understood the menus in the restaurants. Then there was no holding us back 26 of us for evening meal including beer for less than £60. If you remember we always got the chips after pudding.
We actually bought the windsurfer bar that week no locals were allowed in. I could tell many more stories it certainly was a week to remember. :roll:I don’t know about the exchange rates but I can remember being there in 93 with a wad of notes 2 inches thick, working out it was x million zlotties ie abour 6 quid and realising it was ample for a good night out!

As Ken says the Notice of Race for the Worlds in Poland is on the Worlds website.
The last date for entering via the website is May 10th. Late entries by July 6th but this incurs an additional late entry fee of 500 zlotys (approx £100)
Entry fees of 1100 zlotys must be paid into the IOKDBCA account (sort code 30-91-59 account number 01021068). Please identify your payment clearly so we know who has paid. Paul will then transfer the whole lot to Poland in one bank transfer
We will let you know how much the entry fee is in pounds sterling by the beginning of May as the exchange rate is fluctuating quite wildly at the moment, but it is approx £210 including transfer fees.

Has anyone booked flights to Gdansk yet who is not driving?
Perhaps post them here so everyone can share taxis the other end.
Looks like a 1-4 person taxi from Gdansk to Puck is £60 one way, so it’s worth sharing.

Just picking up on Roberts thread ref Taxis from Gdansk Airport to Puck and return trip. I will be flying in Friday 24 July, 10.40am. I will be looking to head back from Puck towards Airport on Sunday 2nd August. Time flexible on that one as overnighting near Airport. Anyone interested in sharing taxis may want to post on this thread.
We have sourced a multi-boat trailer for transport to the Worlds. So far there are 3 of us making use of this. We can accommodate another 3 boats and potentially one on the roof.. If anyone would like to take advantage of having their boats delivered and returned from Puck then please let me know. Pricing will vary depending on the number of boats but is likely to be about £500-£600 each.

I am now arriving by FishTank, not by air, due to a huge change in plans…
