£500 challenge

Hi All,
A few of us Mersea lot got chatting about the old days, sailing the winter months over at Ardleigh in our oppies,toppers,420’s in our youth. I came with the idea we should all buy a boat to compete the winter and frostbite series in over at Ardliegh, The rules were very simple 1) Max spend is £500 inc insurance 2) raised limit of £1000 for a double hander 3) GP14’s are not allowed.

With this in mind, I set about finding my ship, I searched ebay, apolloduck and the OK website everyday for a week.I knew that the OK was the boat for me having been the proud owner of GBR 1990 for 2 winter series a few years ago, sold it last year (gutted) I heard a whisper GBR1924 was about to go to market, I rang the bloke up (a friend of a friend) and got it for a steal (£360), before the advert went up. Its got under deck controls and a black top mast which might need changing as I am weighing in at 100kg these days.

I guess I have a few weeks to tinker before the first sunday. Hope to see the usual faces up there, Dan Ager, Deaves, AT, Steve Ede Grogans, Fish, Ball etc.
