Another insurance question

Hi all.
Just had a cracking weekend away on the South Staffs annual trip to New Quay but have come back with a seriously trashed boat (1886). I’ve managed to pull one of the toestraps through the fwd wall of the cockpit leaving a very nice hole and it looks like I need a new boom as the point where the boom goes into the gooseneck and the kicker mounting has disintegrated. Just wondering whats the score with getting this repaired on the insurance? Will I just get told it was my fault as I went out in quite heavy conditions (the race was cancelled due to the amount of boats needing rescue). Worth it though, up to the point that i noticed the toestrap anchor flapping in the breeze, I was having such a blast!

I would say its time to get the epoxy out & start fixing it – sounds like wear & tear, your insurers wont be interested.
But good for you for getting out there in a breeze.

hi

with a bit of help from various people around my local club i refitted part of a rotten centreboard case and its sound now

so if you need help i am sure there are plenty of people with good ideas at south staffs.

Are you at South Staffs on Sunday Andy? We’ll have to take a look and see what the damage is. Comes of being so good when it breezes a bit!

Not at the club for the next 2 sundays Bill, but if you could give it the once over and see if its worth repairing it would be much appreciated. I’m hopefully going to have a look at 1990 next week too.
