Are the Seamark Nunn Boats any good?

Are the all plastic Seamark Nunn boats any good for club racing? ie are they near to min weight? do they go floppy?

Seamark Nunn only built all-plastic boats as far as I know. They were certainly as good as the other boats that were produced at the time. Andy Turner just bought a 70s Seamark Nunn so you might want to ask him (andy.turnerATtiscali.co.uk) – and if you want any really technical info Seamark Nunn are still going ( http://www.seamarknunn.com ), probably put you in touch wih Monkey Nunn himself, if he’s still around. If you are looking at the ebay boat, it looks really nice, doesn’t it?

I saw a rather sad seanun OK lying on it’s side at overy staithe on Sunday! Is this the one AT has bought?? No doubt he’ll try and flog it to one of our juniors at Ardleigh when it has all been done up!

Well, the location’s right! The one Andy bought is Jimmy Heffer’s old boat which is all grey, hull and decks, and I guess it’s at his house by now. Where’s the one you saw?
DaveIf its the ebay boat it looks in pretty good nick. I actually emailed the seller for some more info. Its got a 3m black-top mast & he sent a picture of the cockpit which looks in reasonably good shape.
The bad news is the boat weighed in at 79.5kg new – which means she’s probably 15 to 20 pounds overweight by now.
Possibly not too much of a problem for pottering or club racing on flat water but without peeling the deck off & replacing it with timber I doubt you’ll be able to take much weight out of her.
Looks like someone’s put in a bid though – £160 at the mo. Worth watching!Hi Dave
it was in the corner of the car park up by the style on the sea defence path. Had a red hull and creamy white decks and was lying off it’s trailer without a cover. Looked in pretty good shape despite all that!
