Seems as my e:mail doesnt wnat to talk with Dave’s Here is the report for Bristol.
The Bristol OK fleet was pleasantly surprised to find 18 OK’s rigged and ready to go on Sat 14th April, boats had travelled from as far as Glossop and Hayling Island representing the class well in this joint Solo, Ok, Laser event. The wind was blowing from the North over the Mendip hills providing gusty challenging conditions, but the wind strength was sufficient for Race Officer Pete Vincent to set good triangle-sausage courses on the Lake, which seems to have faired better from the drought than most.
In Race 1 Richard Burton headed off to the left side of the course on a big lift – Interestingly Rhys Lankester did the same out on the right, both arriving at the windward mark ahead of the more conservative pack in the middle of the course. Burton charged off down the reach never to be caught. Nick Craig worked his way through the fleet to take Second with Terry Curtis taking third.
Craig lead Race 2 from the start in very shifty, patchy conditions. Several people challenged through the snakes & ladders with Curtis coming out clear in second as the wind died off & then filled in down the run, relegating Burton back to fifth. Tony wood managed to scrabble into 3rd from Ian Harris in Fourth.
A big shift before the start of the final race created a one tack first beat. Woods and Craig were able to tack first and managed to round clear in that order – slowly increasing their lead in what became a bit of a procession. Curtis managed to work his way clear into third place with Simon Davis from Upper Thames 4th leaving Craig the clear winner and Woods second on count back.Thanks Terry, that’s great.
