Buying 1917. Any more history?

Hi,
I’m arranging to buy 1917 for someone in Dublin, from Synergy Simon and Paul Church. The cheque is – as they say – in the post. (and I mean literally, not figuratively)
They’ve already told me a lot about the boat. Can anyone else add any more info? Each of these old boats has a story. Always nice to know as much of it as possible.

All I can tell you is that the boat was built in 1978 by Spud Rowsell for Robin Kemp. At some point in time it ended up in a Norfolk barn from where Andy Turner rescued it and put it on the water. I purchased it from Ben Woodcraft at Dabchicks in September 2010, sailed it until March 2011 when I took it off the water for a rebuild. The mast step was moved forward in the boat to accomodate a carbon rig and made adjustable with a cassette type system similar to the Scholes boats, the decks were replaced with new “Tiger” Sapele ply, wested and varnished. The hull was sanded, the bottom panels repainted and the sides revarnished in two pack. The centreboard was replaced with a custom board from Phil Milanes. The boat went back on the water in June 2011 and I sailed it through until March 2012 when I got a new boat for my 50th birthday.
