Cockpit floor stringers?

Another odd question from here..
My boat has a flat cockpit floor…no stringers. Structurally it seems stiff and strong…no problem there.
However, after a couple of weekends where roll-tacking was vital in the racing and an afternoon trying Finn-style downwind rocking and pumping (just for the laugh) I was left wondering whether anyone had tried using stringers on the floor just as “pushing-off-points”.
On a number of occasions I found myself wishing that the edge of the cockpit floor was under the inside edge of the cockpit rather than 6″ further out, e.g. to help standing up after a roll tack, pumping really hard on a beam reach.. .
A 1″ (or less) high stringer along that line would do the trick as an edge, but might have some other negative complications that haven’t occurred to me.

negative hurt like hell when you drop a knee onto one :!:Rather than adding stringers it’s better to stick some self adhesive neoprene to the cockpit floor – good for both the knees and roll tacking.

Sounds like I have a purchase of EVA/Neoprene non-slip in my future. Any recommended products?
One interesting thing….I just read the Yachts and Yachting articles about the Dinghy show and the latest Finn will have a “pumping foot rest”.

It seems that they’re staying away from stringers but going way past neoprene!

Don’t believe what Turner says! Sailing his boat on a breezy day is like trying to sail in a soap dish! Nothing like skidding onto your bum as you hurtle into the gybe mark in a black gust! On the positive side, the neoprene does mean the your bum doesn’t get bruised.
