Hi Guys and Gals, I am sorry to have to report, all my efforts and time have come to nothing ref obtaining sponsorship for a container/assistance with travel to Puck.
I have been very close with both companies but we just missed the slots with both for 2015’s budgets. So I am sorry about that, you are back to Square 1 with travel arrangements. We did have somebody on the inside at Felixstowe docks who has worked very hard for the Class and she should be thanked for all her efforts.
So Gemma Thompson Thank you so much. Some of the guys on here know Gemma she sails with them on big boats.

I have taken up the Ferry offer I posted in a different thread. Ref Medemblik. I have used the offer again and booked for Poland.
Car, 2 persons, Trailer, Day time return sailings £125 to the Hook.

Hi Ken, at least you tried! Was the sailboat deliveries option that drive the boats over for you too expensive in the end? I know we needed 9-12 boats to make it viable.

Thanks for the thanks much appreciated. I thought I had done the deal with Medite Shipping but we just fell short. They are the company I managed to obtain sponsorship from when we went to Adelaide.

Lee the trailer from Sailboat deliveries was from memory just over £625 per boat and he needed 9.
Then you have to add on the cost of taking the boat to and from the south coast. Emsworth I think it is.

I have taken days sailings from Harwich for my trip based on cost. Over night you have to have a cabin. The saving made on the day sailing is far more than the cost of a Hotel half way to Puck.
You Guys further upt North if the Ship you might be sailing on from Hull is owned by Stenna Line the offer Code might be good for you also ?

I’ve exchanged emails with a Finn sailor who has a 6 boat trailer and he has confirmed it is available over the period required to go to Poland.

With 6 OK’s it will weigh about 1600-1700 kg with is too much for my van for to tow which is rated at 1500kg, so someone with an appropriate vehicle would need to take it.

The trailer was new last year, so in excellent condition and should present trouble free towing.

We will need to make a rental offer to the owners for the use of the trailer, which is only fair. We will be saving good money on professional delivery, fuel, time, holiday pay, ferries etc.

So we need:

1, A show of hands as to who is interested in putting their boat on the trailer for an appropriate cost.

2, Someone with an appropriate Vehicle to tow it.

if my Discovery went to Poland for a few weeks, it wouldnt hurt at all…. so i guess we need 4 other folk who want to get there boat there on a big trailer..

(i’ll say now that i probably wont have holiday time sufficient to be able to drive there/back as well as do the worlds)

So the plan is: Fish drives all our boats out there, flies back for a week’s work (don’t worry we’ll find someone to do the water bottles & trollies. Maybe we can hire a stripper to do it with the cash we save on transport), then he flies over & drives the boats back for us.

Fish, I would be happy to thrash your discovery across Europe. Although, my time to drive it would equate to my share of getting my boat there. Before everybody gets ahead of themselves has it been decided to open the entry up as there’s still the issue of qualification…

I don’t know what the story is with qualification.

However my cunning plan (which I’ll happily admit is nowhere near as cunning as Fish’s plan) is:

1, Recent experience has shown that if I get a new boat, I’ll be on qualifying pace.

1a, If I haven’t gotten my act together and gotten a new boat I would look to beg, borrow, steal, maybe even charter a boat.

2, I figure it’s unlikely a full quota of Kiwi’s will be coming over for the event so I could well blag a spot there.

3, I’m not necessarily including myself in the 6 boat count as I’m also going to try & borrow our club’s triple stack trailer, which I’ll have to tow myself.

4, It all goes pear shaped and I’ll go surfing instead, however not in Poland though, because the surf is poo over there.

Given that the event is 6 months away I’m unsure we need to sort out exactly who’s going right now. What I would like to do is line up the ducks sufficiently so I can can secure the trailer.

What is the GBR quota? 12 or 15 boats? So filling a 6 boat trailer should be easy, right?

Fish, is you Discovery petrol or diesel? Any idea on mpg? So I can run some numbers.

I’m in. Whilst I’ve got the Hilux it’s a company vehicle so I’d be lumbered with all the miles which not ideal with limited holiday. I’m sure most people are in the same situation with holiday but if not and one or two people have the time then I’d be happy to chip in to share someones time and all the costs. Simon your idea seems fair to me. In November I did Saasnitz, Germany to Hook in 10 hours including stops with 2 of us driving so Puck for someone towing is another 5hours I guess. It’s a solid 2 day stint plus the overnight ferry.

If we are looking to organise a six boat trailer or two from the East coast, the weekend of 11/12 July with the Dabchicks Open looks like a good time to assemble the fleet.

If that fits then I am in as well. I don’t fancy the 800 mile drive from Rotterdam to Puck, AND back.

What is the suggested itinerary, and who is coming?

Hi Guys I am more than happy to do the drive for you guys if that helps. Im not interested in sailing at all, so would be a case of driving the boats their, fly home, fly back and drive the boats back. I am planning to go visit a friend from that area anyway at some point in either june or july so would be easy for me to tie it all together. Flights I’ve already checked and they are about £75-100 return with baggage so not a huge extra cost. It could even be possible and better for me to drop the boats, go see my friend and come back once the event is over and drive back, which would save on flights and a lot of faff. If someone can give me a ruff idea of dates that you would like to go and bring stuff back, ill put it down in my diary and then arrange with what ever summer work arrangements i have to have time off for it. If someone organises the trailer car and all that crap i am more than happy to rock up and drive. Don’t worry I have towed large trailers before when i was working in Australia so you can have reasonable faith that your pride and joy will arrive in all be it a sail able condition.
