Don’t know if it’s helpful, but I’ve holidayed in Carnac a couple of times. Considering it hosts major events the clubhouse doesn’t stand in too much space and is bounded by a road, rocky headland and the sea. It’s all concrete and I don’t think there’s any room for guest parking let alone throwing up a tent.
However there are quite a few campsites within 15 minutes’ walk and probably a dozen a bit further afield. There are some bike hire places. The good news is that the main pub/restaurant area is about five minutes from the YCC clubhouse.

As far as i know there is no camping available at the club but they are providing car parking but i expect this will be limited.
The camping and caravanning club have 4 campsites in Carnac through their carefree travel service. The nearest one to the Yacht club is just under a mile away but the trouble is it is nearly £50 a night. We are going to be staying at the site furthest away which is about 5-6 miles in distance but the advantage is its only £15 a night.
Also the club offers great discounts on ferry travel they will beat any ferry company prices by at least 10%.
You can either join the club for £40 a year or pay i believe £15 booking fee for non-members.You could also try uk campsites been on their website seem to have a few in Carnac.

Been to Carnac a few times, it’s a great venue!There are loads of B&Bs, hotels and houses for rent within walking distance of the sailing club – the local tourist office can help
The restaurants, bars and nightclubs are awesome!We’ve just booked Camping des Menhirs, think it’s about a 15min walk from the club and well set up with for families with swimming pools, activities etc
I’m tight on hols so would anyone be able to take my boat out in time for the French Nationals beforehand?

NickHave just booked our campsite at this wonderful location, Camping Kergo it’s going to be a good bike ride or car journey from the yacht club but for under £12 a night excellent value. Has not got all the frills of the sites nearer but still a very pleasant site away from the crowds.
Next problem we are taking our caravan so can anyone help me out and take my boat for me? Share costs of course.

DeryckWe’ve just booked dover to calais ferry then going to do the longer drive through france as its so much cheaper than the plymouth or portsmouth ferry crossing. £150 return going out fri 19th Jul / back Sun 28th Jul and thats a pick-up truck compared to £500 odd from the south coast.
Will and I have booked. DFDS Dover to Calais ferry £138 return – two people, car and double trailer. Plenty of apartments available 10 mins walk from the sailing club – approx £450 per week (damn sight better than a tent). Google maps says it is a 6 hour drive from Calais to Carnac.

Guillaume has sent me the following information this is a fairly cheap camp site not far from the club.

At the camp site l’Oceane an area is pre-booked for the OK dinghy sailor, so that all the sailors who want to stay at the camp site will be on the same area.
The starting hours of the regatta has been postpone from 11h to 13h because the termical wind does not often blow before 14h in carnac and so that sailors can either stay a bit with their families or rest from their hang over (well I am not sure the last one is the real reason but I understand it that way ).
And last but not least sleeping on the parking near the yacht club is neither authorized neither forbidden… Which means that if it is done in a subtle and discreet way, it won’t be a problem!!subtle & discreet? I take it Guillaume has never met you Burt!
We’re booked for the Europeans and a weeks hol afterwards. I’ll probably make it for French Nationals too, work permitting…

Please E-mail an entry form to me – I’ll send all of them to France.
Please bank transfer £180 entry fee to the IOKDBCA account (sort code 30-91-59; account number 01021068) by July 1st (£90 for juniors) or send a cheque to Paul Pike, Treasurer IOKDBCA, 7 Eastfield Rise, Holton Le Clay, Lincolnshire, DN36 5AJ. Paul will transfer the entry fees to France.
If you miss the July 1st deadline you will be responsible yourself for paying the late entry fee and negotiating entry for yourself.
