right then whose coming?? inlands is always a good event !!! free camping great evening meals and plenty of hash browns for breakfast!! (as long as i dont get there first)
I’ll be there with Hugh’s boat and one to sail myself.
More importantly, Ardleigh and Waldringfield are coming up on 15th/16th September respectively. We are planning on going out for a curry on the Saturday night for those that want to do both events and there should be some floor space available for those to crash.

SiOne other thing…we have an extremely friendly, aged, diabetic, and blind Cairn Terrier that we’d hoped to bring with.
He’s an experienced sailor, has won an award as Best Tactician in the Barcelona First Class 8 Fleet for his wind-sniffing abilities and has had drinks with the King of Spain on numerous occasions.
The NOR and entry form say “No Dogs on site”. Is this a hard-and-fast rule or is there any possibility of getting an exemption for a dog that is absolutely not going to be wandering around pooing on the grass. He can bring his own accommodation.

You probably need to ask the club about that, Hugh. If he’s that good at sniffing the wind, could you get him in as your Windshift Assistance Dog, claiming you have a disabling condition that prevents you from noticing shifts? (Actually, I think I have that condition myself!)

DaveWell since he’s gone blind I’ve become his “Seeing Eye Person”. He just sits and listens these days.
He got the award because he used always come sailing with us when we had a First Class 8. He’d sleep below decks and come up between races to look around and sniff the breeze. It looked as if he was checking the wind.
Anyway, I just emailed the club. Fingers crossed. Poor guy would hate spending the weekend in a boarding kennel.

I just topped up my 3rd party insurance to meet the requirements of the event. Cost me money, it did.
Is 3 million pounds the normal 3rd party liability requirement for a dinghy event in the UK these days? The summer season racing here, which includes Class 1 cruisers, has a 3rd party cover requirement of €1.27 million. That’s what, a million pounds?

I did think about getting my boat out of hibernation and join you this weekend chaps, but sailed for the first time in two years at South Staffs last weekend and my body didn’t like it. Not even in an OK either, but half an hour in a Mirror with my boys. I know……….I’m a wimp! :oops:
I plan to give South Staffs Open a go though.
It would have been great to meet you as well Hugh. I am sure you will enjoy the event.

oh..by the way..
for anyone that we tried to contact on the sunday night after we got locked out of Northampton Sailing Club, thanks for the help. Someone from the club opened the gate so we got back in to the club on Sunday evening and someone from the committee phoned the following morning to check whether we were ok.
