Hi all,
I am looking to get into an OK, after trying one of Terry’s down in Weymouth (seeing you at the regatta caused a stir of interest in a few people!) and I am looking at a couple on the for sale section.
my main question is:
One of the boats – 2033 – has a cut away end of the boom, exposing the outhaul for ease of use. Is this class legal? It is one I am considering.I have a budget of £1000ish, so if anyone knows of anything else coming on the market soon, I might be interested! Looking for a good club racing boat of 2000+ sail number, and may try and get to a couple of opens and see where it goes from there.

No problem with the cut away boom. 2033 is a good starter boat – used to belong to Bill Croome who looked after it well. 2065 is an even better boat (see Robert Campbell Gray’s post on this forum quite recently). I haven’t heard that it’s been sold. The Hein is a really good all round hull shape and professionally built (with comfy side decks)

Would you like to buy 2062 an O’Donnell (fibre glass hull wood decks) everything in working condition however the decks do need varnishing. Comes with launching trolley and cover. Boat currently based at Upper Thames Sailing Club Bourne End (ask Terry its his old club)

Glad to hear we caused a stir down in Weymouth!
As previously mentioned, 2033 was always well kept when Bill Crombe owned it but not sure what its like now. It was always a quick boat though, so should be a good buy.
We all know 2065 as it belonged to Simon Shaw until recently and was seen regularly on the open meeting circuit. Its very well built, in very good nik and a quick boat.
2062 also is in very good shape and has competed very well at recent open meetings.
The question is…….which one will you choose?
