Lyme Regis Regatta.

Just a reminder that following the enforced cancellation of the Christchurch Open we are using the Lyme Regis Regatta on 3/4 August as our next open.
It’s a great opportunity to start to learn about the venue for the next British World’s. There is no entry on the day and you must enter via the club website. There are limited spaces and we already have some interest and entries going in. Should be a great weekend. Hope you can make it.12th July 2019 at 9:38am #19120
7 signed up so far. Should be a great weekend.12th July 2019 at 10:02pm #19121
should thiis old fogey decide to have one last flurry before he hangs up the wetsuit and sticks to the road bike…….what dates are the worlds in 2020 as given the state of the upper body it could well require at least 2 years to show a modicum of fitness.
yup have sailed the Solo once and decided that it is a ton easier just to go for a 50 mile bike ride. No pressure or competition save that which is self induced. BUT miss the banter of the likes of The VC and the fat brewer and besides there will always be a touch of competition with Mr O’Leary at the back of the fleet.
Thus will head back to the class – not next year but most likely the year after (god willing).
enjoy the Nats at Abersoch – a super location but a swine of a drive from the S Coast.
as you can see I still can’t cope with the new tangled face book rubbish

Andy. Good to hear from you. We miss you.
I’m unsure if a date has been pinned down for the Lyme Worlds yet. I’ll ask our Worlds Sub Committee. We’re hoping to get to know the place a little in a few weeks. It would be great to see you back for that. I really think we can get a few returnees for that and know there’s some sailors from other classes thinking of aiming for that event too. The venue looks brilliant.
Abersoch is a fair trip for everyone but well worth the trip. Beautiful sandy beach, iconic club carved into the cliff side, brilliant protected bay. Are you sure you don’t fancy a guest appearance this year. I bet we could find you a boat.
Keep in touch with the class Andy. We’d love to see you back.

“Welcome to the hotel California”
Now who in their right mind would lend a boat to this old soul unless it was insured up the wazoo with the expectation that he would plant it in the back of a wave only for it never to resurface.
Sorely tempted despite the drive.
The problem or the advantage of the OK is you get fed up, throw the toys out of the pram try something else and then realise that you are still in contact with all those other blithering idiots who love sailing the sodding little boat – admitedly at different levels of expertise.
I guess it all comes down to kindred spirit – not mr Bourne’s Captain Morgan – but the people. Sailing is only part of the gig.
