Rondar OK 2055 any good?

Hi i have OK sail number 2055 and am wondering what the Rondar OK’S were like as im aware there werent many. The bottom mast plate is fixed with no scope for adjustment, were they set to optimum measurement, or is this a problem? The mast rake seems right, but i know many OK’s can adjust this. Any help or info on the rondar would be great. I know that it was just about down to weight when built and decked (73.5 kg) and is fairly stiff, i am mainly wanting to know if Rondar OK’s had any success.

I am primarily a laser sailor(boo hiss), but recently have started sailing this to some success at my club, success which previously wasnt there in my laser, so maybe this is a good class to be in!

As I recall, this boat is a bit of a one off from Rondars, it hasn’t ever won any major events, but if it is still in good condition, then it will be a perfectly good boat . It appeared at South Staffs SC about ten years ago under the ownership of a guy called Matt Johnson, at this stage this boat had not been sailed although it was probably about 3yrs old. I seam to remember that it had been stored away in a garage somewhere after been built. This boat was then bought by Rod Kershaw and went up north, I think he used it in the 1998 Worlds in Australia. I would estimate that 2055 has not had a hard life, and is still fairly competetive, I suspect that the shape would be either a Skinner or O’donnell.

Almost certainly an O’Donnell. You can tell by looking at the size of the keel band shape just back from the stem which will be slightly enlarged. this had to be done to comply with the introduction of new measurements at the stem I think in the 70s.

Niel. Sorry I wasn’t at the Inlands after all. Was really hoping to come to the team racing but ‘stuff’ is getting in the way. Hope to see you at a few events next year.
