Rudder Stock

Hi,

I have a lifting rudder (sail on a river) with and old wooden stock and tiller, am thinking about replacing the stock etc as it is a little worse for ware. Not in the market for spending a fortune in a new one, was wondering if anybody could recommend an off the shelf stock I could put my blade into.

Hi,

Alex Scholes and Synergy make carbon stocks I think. Failing that, try Sea Sure who make a range of aluminium stocks. There is an adjustable one which may be the right height/depth.

I am using an ‘off the peg’ RWO alloy stock. Plus aluminium tiller.

It was measured with the boat and ‘satisified the requirements’

Blade is set at 15 degrees

Stock height under tiller is 290mm and max width is about 200 mm. From memory the blade width is up to 21mm but easily  squeezes in for the Ok’s max 20mm. Can be locked down by a pin for proper racing but i don’t normally in the shallow creek I sail out off.
