Hands up, who loves that sunday night feeling feeling of being completely knackered, legs ache, hands hurt???
2 races at Ardleigh today, Mr Turner, Mr Constable, Mr Ham and myself were the OK contingent with about 10 other boats, F3-4, not too cold but glad I had my hat.
Anyone else thinking of racing at Ardleigh in this years Frostie, get yourself over there, 2 races back to back 1030 start.

GBR 19242 races, that’s proper hardcore. I managed just one race (had to go in because my fags got wet) and spent the rest of the day pretending to read the paper whilst resting my eyelids.
That said, I’ve been pretty successful in the medium handicap fleet…………..at singlehandedly getting our PY number higher!

i managed 2 races and succsessfully put everyone else in there place but unfortunately not helping the handicap situation after finishing in front of the supernova twice
Update from Ardleigh frostbite series. 2 races today, The OK ‘s were represented by 5 boats, Mr Turner 2123, Paul Church 2036, Trev Child in 1957, Mark Early in 1748 and Myself 1924.
Race 1 started in F1 and barely reached F2, Mr Turner got away from the rest of us, trev was second OK, Paul 3rd, Tim 4th and Mark was 5th.
Race 2 started in a bit more breeze F2 off the start, I was accidently 5 seconds early so had to go back, wind got up to F3 and the OOD gave us an extended race of 5 laps wich was nice. Mr T & Paul got away from Trev, Myself and Mark.
It was a nice days sailing, would have appreciated a bit more wind and would be fun if there were a few more OK’s to play with.

Tim.Update from Ardleigh, Blowing old boots this week.The class was well represented by 6 OKs. Mr Turner, Paul Constable, Richard Ham, Ben Simpson, Mark Early and myself. I managed 1 lap, capsized too many times, I think Andy T was the only OK to finish,looked as though he was having a real battle with Steve Ede in his solo. Nobody really fancied a 2nd race in the howling conditions, so we all packed up our boats and went home.
Update from Ardleigh. A tad friendlier conditions this week, race 1 started in F3-4. 4 OK’s turned out , Mr T, Paul Constable,Paul Church and myself. Andy T was first in the morning race, followed by Paul Church, Paul Constable had a quick dip (3rd), I had a nasty capsize to windward on the run, luckily held on to the main sheet as the boat went sailing off, got her upright in reasonable time but was too far behind the others. No Ben simpson this week as his boat is broken from last week and Richard Ham was on OOD duty.
Race 2 started in F4-5, Paul Constable, Paul Church and Andy Turner had a really close race, I was a little way behind but not as far as previous weeks. Paul constable was 1st OK, followed by Paul Church Andy was 3rd, I was a few minutes behind Andy.
A nice gusty force 3 caught some of us out yesterday! 5 OKs came to the start line for race 1. Andy T was in the lead by the first mark, closely followed by Paul Constable and Paul Church, then Tim Hurst and Mark Earley. Once we’d got rid of the Marlin Rockets Paul Constable cruised up on to Andy’s transom but then fell in on the next round to leave Paul Church in second place. In race 2 Andy had it easy at the start as Paul Constable was still rigging his boat and Paul Church changing his sail. However Andy promptly fell in at the gybe at the second mark leaving Paul Constable in first place, Paul Church in second, Tim Hurst in third and Mark in 4th. (Andy took a long time to get his boat going again!). Mark capsized at the gybe second time round and looked like a submarine going down the run (these Seamark Nunn boats without a front bulkhead!). From under water I couldn’t see to well what happened for the rest of the race but Paul Constable was a comfortable first. Hopefully we’ll all be practising our newly honed skills at Dabchicks on April 2nd. Two more weekend of the Ardleigh Frostbite to go.

Really close racing yesterday. In race 1 Paul constable stormed off the line only to be smothered in Merlins, letting Paul Church into the lead with his Proctor mast and North sail combination. Andy T was second round the windward mark, sporting his bright shiny rudder re-furbished by Paul Church, and Tim Hurst 4th. Down the reach it was who could catch Paul Church which Andy did eventually (more pumping). On the last beat Paul Constable picked up a great shift (which to be fair he had exploited in previous races in this series) to overtake Paul Church and finish second.
In the second race again Paul Church had a good start to lead with Paul Constable second and Andy third. Tim was sailing well but gradually going backwards through the fleet after a good start (need to take some weight out of the boat). This order was maintained up the second beat and down the run, with the first 3 boats within ten metres of each other. At the turning mark both Pauls stood on on starboard tack but Andy tacked on to port and picked up some breeze (or is that “pressure” these days?) and powered into the lead. Paul Church pulled out some good distance in second over Paul Constable with Tim struggling to hold off the Lasers and Solos. No-one could relax as there were lots of flat patches and again Paul Church pulled tight up on Andy’s tail on the last run with Andy resorting to some aggressive covering tactics up the beat. On the final beat Paul Constable again picked up his favourite lift to pass Paul Church to finish second.
Overall results for the Frostbite: great to see OKs in the first four places out of 20 odd boats. Andy 1st, Paul Constable 2nd, Paul Church 3rd; Tim Hurst 4th.
Now we’re all off to Dabchicks for the open Meeting on April 2nd/3rd. See you there if you dare!
