Looking forward to sailing at Weymouth. But I’m a bit unsure about how it is- Like where is it and where do people stay.
last time I sailed there it was in merlins about ten years ago at a sailing club on the Nothe Road and previous to that was off the beach in 470’s ( yep 1980 ish) I’m told by sailing mates ” it’ll be at this place or that place – it.s all changed since the olympics” -Might sound daft but I’m sudddenly thinking where am I actually going to – can I stay in my van ? / camp . ? parking ? race times = I’ve been on the Weymouth sailing club website and their calender doesn’t have it listed – Cheers robbo :roll:@robbo wrote:

Sleeping some guys have vans and sleep in these, but no facility for this at the club, be prepared to pay for parking if you use Nothe parking facility or infact any parking will cost you in town. Last year £8 day. We are not at the Olympic sailing venue.
Race time I am sure we will be informed of these nearer the time. But like most events plan to get there as early as possible Sat morning. Plenty of B and B in town also. I am sure if you Google the area it will all become clear. Kenhi again- well yes I did google and I was just hoping it was at somewhere you have reasonable access -parking -somewhere to stay- everywhere seems booked up and it’s very expensive anyway-don’t want to sound negative but moving on All I can find is a dinghy regatta in which WSC are part of and it says all dinghies will be based at Castle cove sailing club and entries seem limited to two classes -single handers and double handers – I’m not very good on computer searching (yea I know I’m not a lot better in an OK ! ) but I’m sure all that’s on July 9th/10th. i am checking where the OKs should be launching for the open. Usually its WSC, but this year may be different.
Yes the event is part of the dinghy regatta, there will be 2 courses out in the Bay and the OKs have their own start – assuming we have enough boats.
It is very important that you pre-enter on the website.

There are no entries taken on the day and numbers are limited so if yu are thinking of coming get your entry in. You dont have to pay straight away.

Colin M S maybe this information needs sending to all members ? if there are those who leave things late it could all go a little pear shaped if entry becomes closed. Ken.OK Here is what you need to know.
This year the OK’s will sail from Castle Cove which is in Portland Harbour. The regatta has a limit of 120 boats – There are already 60 entries and they have ony been open 2 days, so if you want to come to Weymouth you must enter VERY SOON. Once 120 entries are reached you will go a waiting list.
