Weymouth Open is always a popular event for the OK’s and other classes in this multi class regatta. It will get over subscribed. The club have been good enough to tip us off that the entries are about to open. We will have a weeks advantage before the handicap classes pile in.
The links to Sail racer via the club site will open very soon. Perhaps who ever enters early once it opens can add to this thread so that we can organise ourselves. A large OK entry is expected at this wonderful location. Good luck.12th May 2017 at 6:36am #17482DaveBourneParticipant

Entries are closed but we’ve mustered 15 x OK’s for Weymouth. Not too shabby. See you there.10th July 2017 at 11:59am #17878chrisarnell1Participant

Congratulations to Luke Gower who sailed fast and smart to win in really tricky conditions.
Poor Keith Byers deserved 2nd overall but the decision by him and most of the fleet to come ashore instead of sailing the final race on Sunday means he’s relegated to 3rd and gets the honour of writing the report.
Richard Bowers from the host club invited sailors to email with feedback about the event. Given the changes from last year and some of the challenges faced on the water, I imagine it’s worth taking a few minutes to share your thoughts if you were there last weekend.
Looking forward to Denmark but, like many of us who sailed at Weymouth, I have no idea now whether I am fast or slow, smart or dumb10th July 2017 at 4:07pm #17879KenParticipant
Sounds like there should be a bit of feedback, especialy if all classes sailed the same courses and you did not have your own starts.
I would imagine it was bit chaos at marks and very hard off wind with faster boats and spinnakers.

Well said Chris. Congratulations to Luke. Good to see your investment in your new boat paying off. You’ve got to grips with it very quickly. Sorry I bailed early. It’s a tough exit out of there and a five hour trip.
I’ll drop some feedback to them. I never like to criticise Race Officers it’s a bloody awful job. The first race was just a cock up. There’s not many fleets that can sort it out over a pint in the bar and chuck the race out without a protest form in sight. Winners and losers taking the desicions in their stride (Rover only sulked until the next pint!).
An enjoyable weekend.
