Spent some time looking for accommodation for the Worlds 2016 at the weekend. However can anyone advise the dates for the event and also the precise location i.e. is it Saint Pierre Quiberon or Quiberon which is further down at the end of the peninsula?

The organising club is SRSP http://www.srsp.fr, which has its own clubhouse, with beach launching etc at the Rue des Regatiers (close to the Impasse de l’Ours). That club is about five minutes’ walk by road from the national sailing school.
When we passed through St Pierre Quiberon last summer, SRSP was registering entries for a big open at its Rue des Regatiers clubhouse so I thought the event was there… Does this mean SRSP moves lock, stock and barrel round the corner to the national sailing school for the worlds?
Incidentally, St Pierre Quiberon is a really good place. Not too loud, but there are a couple of late night bars and several restaurants about 10 minutes’ walk up the road around the Quai d’Orange area.

Other than the option Ken flagged up, there are three sites to the south of the sailing clubs – further away from the Quai d’Orange: Camping Park Er Lann is on Rue d’Ecole du Voile and then La Baie and Camping Municipal du Rohu are both (on the map) to the right of Rue du Bois d’Amour and below the Rue des Courlis.
I’m not able to say what they’re like: for some reason we didn’t like the look of Er Lann when we walked past (can’t explain, entirely personal) & the other two just seemed too far from Quai d’Orange for our tastes. We’ve ended up renting a cottage on the Rue de Kerbourgnec between SRSP and town.
Btw any offers on how the SRSP / ENV relationship is going to work?

Yeah, I see. My idle curiosity is that given that SRSP is physically based in a different building (a short way) across the bay and seemed to handle events (or at least the registration) there when I was passing through I was curious how it would work, as I’ll probably be arriving the weekend before registration begins and fancied some early sailing.
Sure it will all become clear.
Hope to see you in spring/early summer. An irksome knee injury has kept me off the water and the hockey pitch since early autumn but the physio’s promising a better 2016.

Hi all, I have just sent this email to the OKDIA secretary asking to clarify the situation ref accommodation at the Worlds Venue, ref Camping and Hostel accommodation at the club.
In the Notice of Race under ‘Accommodation’ it advises us to contact the official Tourist Offices. On the Worlds website there is information telling us that we can book the hostel or camping on site through this link

Many of us have tried to book camping and hostel through this link without any replies.
We have been informed that there is plenty of camping at the club so how do we reserve it? Will the official tourist offices do this? I doubt it.
We have also unofficially been informed that there may be a problem booking camping and hostel accommodation on site due to consecutive championships arriving early and departing late. Typically we want to book camping for us and hostel for David 2 days prior to and 2 days after the event. There will be plenty more who also want to do this. We are led to believe that the club are not handling our requests because they don’t know how to handle this problem.
Can you please advise the current situation reference camping and hostel accommodation on site and how we progress?

GBR 2180Ok here is the current situation, the club has a championships the week before our Worlds. The class is the Bic. It seems they may have as many as 140 boats. They will be camping and using the hostel. They will still be sailing if we arrive early and most likely they will not be leaving until the end of the weekend we start. So basically we cross over. It seems this is the reason we have had no replies to booking camping space or hostel space. In short the place may booked up.
You will notice on the Notice of Race the information from the club informs us to contact the Tourism office for accommodation details, it does not mention the clubs facility. However please check for yourselves. I just wanted to give you the heads up if you are waiting for a reply from the club.

Robert Deaves acting OKDIA secretary is now aware of the situation and is looking into it. Not sure what he can do but hey ho.I have now booked a hotel, shame I was looking forward to camping again.
All Entry Fees must be sent by the relevant OK Dinghy National Association to SRSP to arrive by no later than 23 June 2016???
Should that read “All Entry Fees must be sent by the relevant OK Dinghy National Association MEMBERS to SRSP to arrive by no later than 23 June 2016”
or do we pay Mary who then transfers monies?

When the time comes we all pay the fee to Paul Pike our Class treasurer in pounds and he transfers the money to the account. I would expect it will not be long before we can start to make the payments. I am sure Mary will inform us when we need to make the payment. Hope this helps Regards Ken.
