The International OK Dinghy British Class Association (IOKDBCA) coordinates the sailing events of the OK Dinghy in the UK. We work closely with the international association http://okdia.org which manages the activities of sailors worldwide who take great pleasure in sailing this exciting single handed dinghy. Our association comprises both adult and junior members who can be found in most areas of mainland UK. We share a love of the boat which often extends for more than forty years!
Training and racing
By joining the Association, we offer you training and racing experiences in a variety of sea and inland venues, all chosen for the excellent sailing conditions that each offer. We have a comprehensive fixture list for 2019 which includes a number of ‘must go to’ venues in Europe. To find out more take a look at the events section. These Open meetings are hotly contested on the water, often over two days with 6 races to count. Once ashore, a real camaraderie exists as we all share sailing stories in the clubhouse.
Members of the committee are here to offer help, advice and a warm welcome to anyone who joins the Association. Area representatives are active sailors in your area who are very willing to help with boat purchase, rigs and tuning. The forum always contains a lively exchange of thoughts between sailors, with plenty of specific technical advice for those embarking on sailing an OK Dinghy.
An annual OK Dinghy magazine summarizing the work of OKDIA is sent to all members in May of each year. Our International Secretary Robert Deaves regularly publishes international upcoming and ongoing events through all social media outlets. Do read his reports on the World Championship held in Quiberon , France last year to read how close the racing is in the OK Dinghy Worlds reports .A history of the OK Dinghy ‘Completely OK’ can be bought through this link: http://okdia.org/completelyok.php.
The OK Dinghy offers opportunities to sail in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Our annual World Championship is being held in Barbados this year! Does this dynamic association appeal to you?
