2024 RYA Dinghy Show Recap

Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to announce we had another very successful dinghy show. Once again we shared the space with the Europes, the stand looking very impressive with a very pink looking Europe supplied by Simon Cox of Synergy Marine and the boat Henry Wetherell sailed to become 2023 World Champion. Henry was sailing the beautifully finished JJ Boats GBR 2245 which James Jarvey of JJ Boats very kindly brought to the show. Robert Deaves allowed us to use photographs he had taken at the Worlds and he also provided a video featuring both sailing at Lyme Regis and at Garda. 

Once again we are indebted to Bill Bradburn for designing the stand and bringing his display boards for the photographs. Rodney Tidd and I helped to construct the stand on Friday and we also dismantled the stand on Sunday evening. We had many friends dropping by the stand, some reminiscing on the days when they used to sail OKs, many dropping in to say hello and several who are new to the OK and keen to pick up tips on placement of all the strings! We also had a number of inquiries from people very keen to buy an OK – if you have a spare one in your garage for sale, please send me the details with photos and I will get the information placed on Facebook or the website.

Karen, Acting Chair, Sarah our new webmaster, Rodney, Bill, Gavin and I were supported on the stand by Hugh and Debbie Myers, Keith Fedi, Steve Townsend, Alan Atkin and Rupert Smith. Thanks everyone!

Three of the team were able to show off the new kit advertising the National Championship at Brixham Yacht Club (below). We are so grateful for the sponsorship support of PRO-SET, Wessex Resins, which will be providing the prizes for the event.
