Forecast true to its word @ Bristol…

Unfortunately the forecast for the Bristol Corinthian open on Saturday 12th May was true to its word. Well in a nutshell a wind less day, there was a occasional flutter to give some hope! And to be honest that was more, no we can’t go out in that, then oh, thank god wind gone again.
7 OK’s had rolled into BCYC to join 2 home boats to sail with the Solos and Lasers for a one day open meeting.
I’m sure the numbers would have been higher if the forecast had been more promising.
A special mention must go to those who did make the trip.
I double stacked with the association boat, as Dan Ellis based in Plymouth, was very keen to try out the OK, unfortunately that has now got to wait for another time.
It was also very encouraging also from the south west to see Chris Rhodes, arrive with an OK. Chris used to be a very good sailor in the class way back in the seventies. That is the beauty of the OK always draws you back in!
Special mention also goes to Steve Cooke, hoping to sail in his first open. Steve had travelled all the way from the Kent coast.
Also Terry Curtis, Alan Robinson, and Paul Craig, made the journey to Somerset, and as expected, the abandonment flag went up at 2.00, time to pack up and go home early.
