January Update

Happy New Year!
For many the Perisher series is soon to begin in various parts of the country and the Australians will be welcoming OK sailors to their World Championship in Brisbane in late February. Look out for Robert’s reports and photo gallery of the event which, I am sure, will inspire you to jump into your boat and start sailing – 2nd March is our first open meeting date.

Membership and Subscriptions
We welcomed 23 new and a few returning members to the OK Association last year in preparation for the World Championship held at Lyme Regis Sailing Club in July. Over half of the Association were sailing at this event and those of us who had lent our boats were also there cheering on the fleet. The number of full members has risen to 140. We are delighted to have five juniors in the association.
Subscriptions are now falling due today, 2nd January; £35.00 for a full membership and £15.00 for associates. Here are the bank details for those without standing orders:

Dinghy Show
Once again, the RYA is running the dinghy show at Farnborough International Centre over the weekend of 24th and 25th February. The Association is sharing a stand with the Europe Class, a development that worked very well last year. If you can offer to spend an hour on the stand, we would welcome your support. 2024 Fixture List
The fixture list is below. Please delete previous copies as some of the dates and locations have changed. Well done Gavin!
We start with the Burghfield Sprint, near Reading, on March 2nd, an excellent event with a number of very short races, excellent food and a fully stocked bar. You will see that we are adding a fact sheet of each venue to the IOKDBCA website at the end of January; for example helping you to navigate your way to the club, where to park, is motorhome parking available, nearby accommodation and campsites, food and drink outlets etc etc. Many of these guides have aerial photographs to aid orientation and interpretation. Our thanks to Jennie who is busy compiling the data.
I have already received three enquiries about membership for 2024, promising another excellent year for sailing the OK – please don’t forget to turn up to as many Open meetings as you can!
