We will return to UYC for their Daffodil Regatta, and results from the meeting will be the first part of our new ‘Border Trophy’ with part two being sailed for at the Scottish Championships at East Lothian YC.
Located in the Lake District, with good access from the M6, Ullswater YC provides us with a chance to showcase the class at this very friendly regatta.
The club site enjoys spectacular views across the lake and offers modern changing and shower facilities, toilets with disabled access, a main club and lecture room and licensed bar.
The is a good range of accommodation in nearby Pooley Bridge, and also in Penrith. Travelodge and Premier Inn both have local facilities, and there are many guest houses, hotels and AirBnB providers in the area. Park Foot campsite offers caravan pitches and static caravan accommodation.
Camping and motorhoming will be available on site – this is normally bookable as part of your online entry. Note that due to planning restrictions caravans are not permitted on the UYC site.
There is plenty of parking on site.
The club will be holding an evening meal on the Saturday night and the bar will be open on both Friday and Saturday nights. We hope our OK fleet will come together and support the club by joining in the Saturday meal.
Dogs are allowed on site but not on the front lawn or in the clubhouse. They should be on a lead and owners are expected to clear up any ‘mess’ left by their pooches.
The lake offers the chance to enjoy windsurfers, canoes, paddle boards etc and those attending the event are welcome to launch from the club site.
The club has a galley and food will be available throughout the weekend, including breakfasts and lunches, and it is expected that there will also be an evening meal on Saturday night. It would be lovely to join together with other competitors at the meal.
Keswick (c18 miles away) is a very busy town with a market on Saturdays. Plenty of shops for those seeking retail therapy! The local shops in Pooley Bridge offer basic foodstuffs, newspapers, maps, books etc.
The Ullswater Steamer runs from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding, providing a wonderful view of the sailing and the lake. There arevarious walks along the lake shore and on the local fells.
